An Early Goodbye

Since we got married, we have documented our apartments before we move.  We make a silly little video before we pack or change anything, so we have all our regular life moments from the apartment recorded:  how the apartment was arranged, little memories  of where we ate our dinners, things the cats have done, and stuff like that.  As we hope to be moving by the end of April, we documented now, so we can start packing.  Here are some photos we also took. We have love, love, LOVED this apartment!

IKEA problems

One of the improvements we are making is putting a double sink into the bathroom.  We found a small double sink that will work at IKEA.  We figured we would put the cabinet portion together ourselves, as we can only assume that contractors hate IKEA instructions even more than lay people.

After a day  of attempting to put together our new white bathroom sink cabinet missing about 1/3 of the parts, calling IKEA three times, taking a bus, renting a car, driving to Stoughton, buying ANOTHER cabinet, putting THAT together, we ended up with a gray bathroom cabinet we love.  IKEA furniture is either a massive success or a massive bust – there is no middle ground.

Today we brought Mannie over to the new house with us.  He did pretty good.  We made him a box to sit in where he could hang out with us and feel safe.  When we were cleaning up to head home, he hid in Jeannette’s sweatshirt that was hanging on the front door knob – he did not want to be forgotten!

We bought a house!

We’ve had a little bit going on lately, as we bought a house!  It is a brownstone condo in Chester Square, in the South End.  We adore our new place and are excited to do a little bit of work and move in!  Mannie isn’t so sure yet, but we think he’ll come around!

P.S.  We highly recommend our real estate agent, Ken Snyder.  He is awesome!

Cute Mannie

He fell asleep playing with his mouse and then used it to cover his eyes from the light.

Memorial Day Weekend Roofdeck Work

For Memorial Day Weekend we cleaned up our roofdeck.  For obvious reasons, even after repotting all the plants, it didn’t take too long, so we had some time to enjoy it.  Manhattan gets to hang out there with us because he obeys commands (oddly enough for a cat) and he loves lounging on the deck.  He isn’t allowed past the iron fence, so he reaches his neck out to sniff past it or rest his chin on it.  He is super good, even when birds hang out there just past the fence and bath in the puddles on the roof.  Good cat!
