W – Celtics (105) v Knicks (101)

Tonight was our first regular season attendance.  Some fun things we saw:

  • The new hype machine (didn’t quite get the first few seconds on the video – we’ll do better next game)
  • The new intros (Josh really misses KG‘s old yell)
  • Before the game Rondo received awards for leading the league in steals last year and for being 1st team All-Defense.
  • Rondo‘s career high assists (24).  This is second highest for a Celtics record (Cousy had 28).  See all 24 here.
  • Rondo had a triple-double 24-10-10, and the 24 assists are a NBA record in a triple-double (tied with Isiah Thomas (and his was in a 2OT game).
  • We saw Baby sing Tik Tok – it was amazing.  You too can enjoy it, here.
  • We saw The Captain bring down 14 boards (the first time since KG and Ray came to town).
  • A WIN! (105-101)

We love Grandpa Celtic!

And so do these guys! They dressed up as him for Halloween!!

Rondo getting his awards

We’ll get a full video next game – but this was good!

Our new intro:

The Garden was loud – the ticket holders in front of us sit there with their ears plugged. 🙂 Poor guys.

Despite letting the Knicks keep it close, the Captain had ice in his veins and closed it out.

24-10-10!!!

And we did feel welcome!

Let’s Go Celtics! Clap Clap ClapClapClap!

In honor of Celtic’s opening night, which we could not get tickets for without selling a kidney, our video from last year’s Playoff Hype Machine that we didn’t figure out how to get off our camera in time to post.

Celtics v Nets – Preseason: W 92-107

We got tickets to the Celtics last preseason game, which happened to be versus the Nets.  This was our first game in our new seats.  We loved them!  Most of the people around us didn’t appear to be the regular season ticket holder crowd, but a couple here and there looked like they might have been regulars.  We’re excited and think that we have a good section!  The C’s didn’t come out very strong, but after the half you could tell they weren’t interested in losing to the Nets, even a preseason game.  The second half was great fun to watch and they wrapped it up with a 92-107 W and the starters sitting.  Even as soon as we sat down, we had a hard time dialing it back from our post-season adrenaline.  We are so ready for basketball season.

Baby looking tough

This routine brings tears to my eyes and adrenaline to my veins

There are about 25 people who have hitting and smacking and bumping routines here now – only slightly exaggerating…

Once the game was in hand, the tomfoolery began. I think they were arguing about seats. At one point KG was laying down across many laps and chairs, but mainly across Shaq.

Celtics Open Practice

We got to go to the C‘s open practice again this year.  This time we watched them practice in the Garden.  Last year, we had to drive up to Lowell to watch them practice. Big Baby introduced everyone in a way only he could – his teammates were in turn embarrassed or embarrassed for him or laughing out loud!  Even Rasheed Wallace was there! That was great! After some sets and scrimmages, they signed autographs on free tee-shirts and gave them to fans and took off their gear, getting ready to head home.  Nate was drilling 3’s and Ray was trying to distract him by throwing his huge tennis shoes in front of him.  So Nate grabbed one of Ray’s shoes, and made Ray chase him shoeless around the court.  He finally tossed it into the crowd.  Ray finally gave up and had one of the younger guys toss his other shoe into the crowd on the other side of the court before walking back to the locker room in his socks.  Baby took his requisite pictures with a baby and then it was a night.  We had a great time – and for Jeannette’s folks, it was like visiting another country!

NBA Finals, Game 4: Celtics v Lakers

A Win. The Celtics tied the series back up to 2-2. With a 96-89 win.

These were our last tickets of the season.  Maybe our last time seeing Ray Allen in Celtics green.  Maybe the last time seeing Doc coaching the C’s.  Not to mention TA.  For sure Thibs is gone.  All these thoughts were hard to suppress while we were watching them play.  It was a fun game to attend – got to watch the Baby and Nate show, while Pierce had another one of his quiet nights captaining the team without much notice, but without him, no W.

On a fun note:  Jeannette’s Grandmother loves Nate Robinson; she always wants him to play because he brings such “spitfire” to the game.  She gets very annoyed with Doc when he doesn’t bring him in when she thinks he should.  When Nate was playing so long tonight, and so well, and we were all jumping and and waving our towels and yelling and screaming – Jeannette turned to her random neighbor seatmate at the Garden and screamed (to be heard above the din): MY GRANDMA LOVES THAT GUY!!!

Also on a fun note:  Our friends Barb & Jon flew out for the game – and even though their visit was short we had a GREAT time with them.  We even broke the seal on our BeerWorks boycott – it had to be done sometime, and why not with great friends?  Please come back soon Barb & Jon!
