W – Celitics (105) v Nuggets (89)

We saw the Celtics beat the Nuggets 105 to 89 in our 6th game of the season (we’re 5-1 in wins attended thus far and the C’s are 17-4 overall).

It was a weird game in consistency of play quality, but also because we had to go late.  We went first to a work party and then caught a cab to the Garden and made it before the end of halftime.  We were glad not to miss the game, because it felt like we hadn’t been to one in so long, but going late is not in our style book.  We feel pretty lucky that we work/live so close that we can be there in time for tip-off on a regular basis.

We were sad to note that once again a team’s star player sat out for our game – no Carmelo Anthony.  That’s 3 games/teams/guys now, and always a bummer.

The highlight of the night was 28 points for Ray.

Gino was making his way out – but the PTB didn’t find it appropriate after double Ts were awarded to Baby and Nene.  So then we had to wait until the end of the game.  It’s always weird when they show Gino when the game is OVER – obviously the game is “in hand” … it is over.  Oh well.  Here are a few pictures from Game-Over-Gino-Game-Really-Over.

W – Celtics (110) v Raptors (101)

Our Celtics Game 5 was a W (110-101).

Our attended games are 4-1 and the Celtics are 12-4 total.

  • We saw Rondo return after missing 3 games due to a bad hammy, and get 14 assists.
  • We saw a TON of alley oops – it was pretty ridiculous.
  • The second unit couldn’t keep the huge leads the starters would build, but the starters were on top of it.
  • It was a pretty chippy game from where we were sitting – KG was running around the whole game with his arms in the air as if he wasn’t causing trouble – but trouble was all around.
  • We saw KG (Player of the Game) score his season high (so far, 16 games) of 26 points.
  • We ALSO got to see Ray Allen do Name That Tune – in falsetto!  Pretty awesome! (video below)

This is what happens under the Jumbotron during the intro video:  Dancers and Lucky on stilts with big foam hands.

Ray Allen’s awesomeness:

Player of the Game: KG

And check out KG’s season high 26 points (not to mention 11 rebounds)

L – Celtics (84) v Thunder (89)

Our Celtics Game 4.

We saw our first loss (84-89) tonight, but that wasn’t the biggest bummer of the evening.

  • We didn’t get these tickets under our season ticket plan; we bought them separate and sat in a different section than normal. Needless to say, we really appreciate our regular seats, section, view and neighbors.
  • After not getting to see Wall play two nights ago, tonight Durant was out! That was a big bummer for us – he is our favorite non-Celtic.  But that wasn’t the biggest bummer of the evening either.
  • We got to see Nate do Name That Tune (video below!) he gets the dance moves in! Awesome – not a bummer! (The camera mic picks up our Drunky McDrunkerson neighbors though.)
  • And we saw the drunkies steal a phone from their seat neighbors, get caught, deny it, and then punch their female victim in the face.  It was a major bummer (the biggest of the evening).

Our view for tonight’s game:

W – Celtics (114) v Wizards (83)

Our Celtics Game 3.

We saw a shellacking of the Wizards – a fun win (114-83) but no Wall (that made us sad).

  • We saw Delonte‘s return!
  • We saw Rondo‘s 7th double-double of the season (in 11 games – he had 40 in the regular season last year)
  • We now know Grandpa Celtic’s birthday… It’s today!!!
  • We saw the first Gino appearance of the season!!!
  • We found out that Wizard’s Martin is a dingbat.  The Celtics were dribbling out the last few seconds to not be ruthless and increase the lead even more and he stole the ball with 2 seconds left – which gave us a funny picture shown below where the jumbotron folks too early showed the “Celtics win” sign before the game was really over… this isn’t so bad as an inaccurate Gino or anything, but still.

One of my favorite sights:

Delonte checks in for the first time (the sequel):

He got a rousing ovation!

Nate nails a 3 – check out the point spread!

The Big Three were just having a good time hanging out.

Grandpa Celtic’s Birthday!

A fun photo of the point spread – 37 points!

The first Gino appearance of the season!

Game’s not over yet folks! Still 2 seconds left! And Martin hit his free throws after he was fouled after the steal.

Real final score with Paul as Player of the Game.

Also another attempt at capturing the intro vid – there was a nice shot of Delonte in there tonight:

W (OT) – Celtics (110) v Bulls (105)

We attended our second regular season Celtics game tonight and got to welcome ol’ Thibs and Scalabrine back to the Garden!  Everyone cheered so loudly when Thibs came out of the tunnel and walked to his bench and also for Scal’s moments too!  It was great.

Our night in bullets:

  • Jeannette was on her toes during pregame, trying to make sure she taped the whole “We welcomed back old friends” hype machine… they never played it (if memory serves, last game they played it towards the end of warm ups), but we captured a few other pregame moments.
  • The 3 season ticket holders next to us sold out in the worst way – they sold their tickets to Bulls fans. Luckily Jeannette was in the seat separating them from Josh – and we kept the camera protected in case any beers were going to be “accidentally” poured in their direction. They were “outspoken” for not being in their own house. It made the game a bit more adrenaline-filled than normal.
  • One positive from the above experience is that we found out that our seats are in a good section. Hecklers and good C’s fans abound! And no beers were poured – just verbal razzing (mostly clever) – thank goodness!
  • There were nice moments during timeouts to honor the return of Thibs and Scal, and then to honor Pierce‘s 20,000 point milestone.
  • Paul “singing”. ‘Nough said.
  • Baby has been super consistent these past 6 games (and preseason) but tonight it seems he could’ve used more resin on his hands… butter fingers. But even so: 15 points, 3 rebounds, 1 blocked shot, 1 steal, and at least 2 more drawn charges (up to at least 11 charges on the season)! That’s not bad for a not-so-hot night! We are LOVING BBD!
  • Quisy kept us in the game in the first half. He played the best maybe we have seen him as a C. In the first half he was the leading scorer for the team with 11 points and was 4-4 from the floor and 3-4 from the line!
  • And a fun stat of the night (from CelticsBlog.com):
  • The last time the Celtics won consecutive games at home in OT was January 25th and 28th, 1959. Beat Detroit 119-118, and St. Louis 120-111.

Celtics entrance:

Player introductions, note the cheers for Thibs:

After that, the camera was put away – but during the first time out the Powers That Be re-purposed the video we were waiting for to commemorate the return of both Scal and Thibs.  So while we weren’t quick enough to capture it, it was pretty special, so here is someone else’s copy of it:

Starting the second quarter, Paul Pierce’s milestone of 20,000 points in a Celtics uni was honored:

A new favorite time out fan distraction (though normally they can be a nuisance to following the game) is “Name That Tune”.  Tonight it was the Captain “singing” a song he didn’t actually know the words to and made up his own lyrics to the tune (using the word “tune” liberally here).  Pretty awesome.  Even better – the fan got it right anyways.  The Truth and his air guitar:

We still haven’t been to a game won handily enough to see Gino, but they do play the music with the win!  Here is photo of Nate being interviewed after the game for Jeannette’s grandmother.

We were there, W (110-105, OT):
