USA v Spain Soccer Match

We rented a ZipCar and headed down to Foxboro to watch the World Champion Spanish team play the USA soccer team.  It was a friendly and, as the Gold Cup starts in a few days, it became apparent the USA Powers That Be decided to use the opportunity to throw the USA younguns in to the big dogs and see who could play the big boys.  And the answer was… none of them.  The first half was pathetic.  Luckily for the record attending crowd (largest crowd in New England for a soccer match) they subbed in Clint Dempsey and Bradley and all the old seasoned pros at the half.  It was fun seeing Tim Howard and Dempsey and Altidore and Guch and the Spanish team though.  (Donovan was a no show.)  The game itself was a 4-0 rout.  But we enjoyed seeing a world class soccer players playing at Gillette.  Our seats were amazing!  Row 2 – right next to Taylor Twellmen and Alexi Lalas!  The American Outlaws section was also right next to us – and they are lots of fun!

Round 2 L – Celtics v Heat (90-98)

Fiallen Game 23

After watching Wade break Rondo previously, we no longer held out much hope for our postseason, but we were prepared to go and be a part of a good Garden crowd one last time this season.  Turns out, we almost stole one more game from the Heat we had no reason winning. But by the final minutes, the Celtics had the loss, and we knew we had probably seen our last game this year – and maybe for two years if the NBA and the Players Association can’t sort out their issues.

Also, Arroyo doesn’t understand Celtic ways. At halftime, during a playoff game, he was over chatting it up with his old teammates and shooting hoops on their side, warming up with them! Unbelievable. Ray Allen finally pulled him away – I only wish it was KG who corralled him. Unbelievable. Video of that below. I honestly couldn’t believe my eyes.

We have new seats next season (whenever that will be), but we really enjoyed Section 330, seats 9 and 10 – especially our neighbors!  Go Celtics!

(The Heat finally changed their starting lineup.)

Red Sox Game 4 – L v Mariners – 4-5

Fiallen Game 4

Jenks strikes again!  We were not excited when he stepped in to relieve Daisuke – and our misgivings proved to be well placed as he coughed up a double. And the win.  Blah.  At least the Mariners still hold a special place in Jeannette’s heart.

This is our view for the other half of our tickets this season.

Red Sox Game 3 – W v Blue Jays – 9-1

Fiallen Game 3

Our dear friend Bloomer called us up with extra tickets to the Patriots Day afternoon game.  We had a great time catching up with him, watching the Sox get another win, spending some time in the sun and then watching some of the Boston Marathon as it runs right past Fenway. We saw some of our old Baker House kids dressed up as the Baker House mascots on the route.  Bloomer can see the race from his roof – it’s pretty cool.
