Celtics v Nets – Preseason: W 92-107

We got tickets to the Celtics last preseason game, which happened to be versus the Nets.  This was our first game in our new seats.  We loved them!  Most of the people around us didn’t appear to be the regular season ticket holder crowd, but a couple here and there looked like they might have been regulars.  We’re excited and think that we have a good section!  The C’s didn’t come out very strong, but after the half you could tell they weren’t interested in losing to the Nets, even a preseason game.  The second half was great fun to watch and they wrapped it up with a 92-107 W and the starters sitting.  Even as soon as we sat down, we had a hard time dialing it back from our post-season adrenaline.  We are so ready for basketball season.

Baby looking tough

This routine brings tears to my eyes and adrenaline to my veins

There are about 25 people who have hitting and smacking and bumping routines here now – only slightly exaggerating…

Once the game was in hand, the tomfoolery began. I think they were arguing about seats. At one point KG was laying down across many laps and chairs, but mainly across Shaq.

Celtics Open Practice

We got to go to the C‘s open practice again this year.  This time we watched them practice in the Garden.  Last year, we had to drive up to Lowell to watch them practice. Big Baby introduced everyone in a way only he could – his teammates were in turn embarrassed or embarrassed for him or laughing out loud!  Even Rasheed Wallace was there! That was great! After some sets and scrimmages, they signed autographs on free tee-shirts and gave them to fans and took off their gear, getting ready to head home.  Nate was drilling 3’s and Ray was trying to distract him by throwing his huge tennis shoes in front of him.  So Nate grabbed one of Ray’s shoes, and made Ray chase him shoeless around the court.  He finally tossed it into the crowd.  Ray finally gave up and had one of the younger guys toss his other shoe into the crowd on the other side of the court before walking back to the locker room in his socks.  Baby took his requisite pictures with a baby and then it was a night.  We had a great time – and for Jeannette’s folks, it was like visiting another country!

The Cape & Newport with the Allen Folks

When Jeannette’s folks came back to Boston from their Bermuda trip, we took a weekend trip out to the Cape and then on to Newport, RI.  We had a fun time going out to the tip of the Cape and Josh found a new favorite Cape restaurant, The Paddock.  In Newport, we always enjoy the downtown by the waterfront.  We had a great time playing cards and hanging out.

New England Foliage with Fiala Folks

Happy Columbus Day!

We took a weekend trip to Maine and New Hampshire with Josh’s folks to do some leaf peeping, antiquing, brewery hunting, and euchre playing. We had such a fun trip and loved exploring NH’s White Mountains – especially Franconia Notch – with them.

We spent our first night in Maine and found plenty of local brews to try while getting in a few rounds of Euchre. It was a great way to end a good day of antiquing and a nice dinner at the Portsmouth Brewery in New Hampshire!

We saw great colors early and often!

Josh found the Yellow Lady and had to try a round at lunch.

One of many cute covered bridges we saw

We did short hikes to a few pretty falls

The place we stayed had a whole block of houses and a brewery!  It was great!

We finally found shuffleboard in New England!  Though this is all the way in New Hampshire! Girls win!

Red Sox v Yankees – Obstructed View

We finally were able to attend our first Red Sox – Yankees game at Fenway… We got tickets through the lottery… obstructed view tickets! But they were our first obstructed view tickets we’ve ever had at Fenway so it was a little fun, in and of itself.

Jeannette’s folks were in town and since the Sox were playing so poorly we were able to get reasonably priced tickets for them to come too.  The game ended up getting postponed due to rain after we waited at the park for 3 or 4 hours without even one pitch being thrown.  When we came back for the game the next day, there were so many open seats we were able to all sit together.  Our delayed game was the SECOND game of the double header played, and it began late due to the first game going into extra innings.  Then our game went into extra innings – so it was a late night!  But the Sox won (7-6)!
