Waiting for Violette

In an effort to

1) distract ourselves from our eager anticipation,

2) enjoy our couples-only days fully, and

3) encourage Violette to join us

we have undertaken the following activities over the last two weeks:

We have gone out to eat at Salty Pig, Brownstone, Flour and South End Buttery. We have found spicey dishes at ParishClink, El Centro, House of Siam, Picco, Maria’s Taqueria, Mike’s Diner, NY Pizza, and Myers & Chang (which is apparently a favorite for mom’s trying to induce labor with spicy food – we didn’t know – our waitress told us).  And, even though we were not able to find spicey ice cream at Amsterdam Cafe or spicey cannolis at Mike’s Pastry, we enjoyed our treats there nonetheless.

To balance this caloric intake, we supplemented our daily walks from downtown to the South End.  We went on broad looping walks that took us to the Esplanade, North End, Boston Commons, Longwood Medical Center, Northeastern University, Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Fenway and the Comm Ave Mall. However, on some of these walks we got hungry or thirsty so we had street food calories at a North End festival, many Amsterdam Cafe ice creams, a picnic on the Commons, and summer cups (Josh).  Jeannette has been keeping track and has been walking 5-10 miles a day, walking over 70 miles in the past 2 weeks.

None of this has worked in achieving objective number 3 above, to encourage Violette to join us.  So in addition to the long walks and spicey foods, we have also tried using pressure points, raspberry leaf tea, acupuncture, jumping jacks, pineapple and taking her to see the Bourne Legacy.
